To uncover the top emerging summer destinations across the country, Priceline recently analyzed year over year bookings for 2017 and 2018 from June 21 to September 21. The list features some popular vacation spots along with a few surprises likely to inspire travelers who are still planning their summer getaway.

Alpharetta, Georgia
This Atlanta suburb boasts a ton of parks and green spaces, plentiful shopping opportunities and a long list of cultural events in addition to being close to Georgia's expansive Lake Lanier. Given all it has to offer, it's no wonder bookings have increased more than 160 percent year over year.
Grand Forks, North Dakota
[post_ads]Another summer destination geared toward outdoor enthusiasts, Grand Forks is home to the Greenway system of waterfront parks and trails that run alongside the Red River. Plus, visitors can reach nearby Fargo in a little over an hour's drive.
Cape May, New Jersey
Cape May has been a summertime haven for visitors to the Mid-Atlantic for centuries, earning the title of America's Oldest Seaside Resort. That charming history is preserved in its eye-popping Victorian houses, including the Emlen Physick Estate museum.
Hampton, New Hampshire
Another destination offering plenty of sun, sand and sea, Hampton is the ideal place to spend a summer weekend in New England. July visitors can look forward to Independence Day fireworks and Country Music Week (July 8-12) but certainly won't be alone as Hampton hotel bookings are up 108 percent year over year, according to Priceline data.

Park City, Utah
In addition to being one of the top 10 wellness destinations in the country, Park City is among the trendiest summer vacation spots in America, having seen a 105 percent increase in bookings year over year.
Whitefish, Montana
[post_ads]If you prefer to spend your summer in a different but equally as charming mountain town, consider Whitefish, Montana. The popular Rocky Mountain ski resort boasts hiking and biking trails, ziplining, flyboarding and other water sports and serves as a convenient gateway to nearby Glacier National Park.
Provincetown, Massachusetts
Located at the northern tip of Cape Cod, Provincetown is home to iconic landmarks such as the Pilgrim Monument—which marks the site of the Mayflower's landing in 1620—and the historic Race Point Lighthouse. The beaches here are also among the most relaxing you'll find.

The Wisconsin resort city of Lake Geneva lies between Milwaukee and Chicago and is a picturesque summer vacation destination, combining the very best of the Great Outdoors with the comfort and convenience of a city.
West Hollywood, California

Another top wellness destination gaining momentum in 2018 is Wailea. Located on the coast of Maui, the summer hotspot offers beautiful beaches, snorkeling opportunities, luxe hotels and resorts and excellent golf courses.
