Inside the World’s First Game of Thrones-Themed Hotel

Sadly, you’ll have to wait until 2019 for Game of Thrones to come back for its eighth and final season. But there’s no need to worry: In the meantime, you can visit Westeros now, by booking rooms at Finland’s latest ice hotel. The impressive installation comes complete with everything you’d expect from a full-service hotel (a bar, a restaurant, beds) and a few amenities you wouldn’t (like a freakin’ dragon slide). The Bar

[post_ads]HBO Nordic has teamed up with Lapland Hotels SnowVillage to create a special GoT hotel made of snow and ice in the resort of Kittilä, which is located about 90 miles from Helsinki, Finland.

The Dragon Slide

The Snow Village is a magical hotel that springs up every year, built anew from from approximately 45 million pounds of snow and 800,000 pounds of crystal clear natural ice by professional ice sculptors from all over the world. In addition to 24 rooms, 10 of which are suits for overnight guests, the village always includes an Ice Restaurant, an Ice Bar, and an Ice Chapel.

Iron Throne

But this is the first year that the hotel is Game of Thrones themed, and fans of the hit HBO show will be transported to the wintry kingdom of Westeros with incredible details like a life-sized iron throne with, an eerie Braavosi Hall of Faces, and a terrifying white walker with glowing blue eyes.

The Restaurant

You can even get married in the Ice Chapel. (Though hopefully your ceremony is nothing like the Red Wedding!)

Bear Suite

The Snow Village is open daily for visitors from 10 am to 10 pm, but an overnight stay is encouraged to get the full experience, especially since it offers such a wide range of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like reindeer sledding, ice sculpting, and a spectacular view of the Northern Lights.

Temperatures in the rooms can get down to 23 degrees Fahrenheit, but there are thermal sleeping bags, hot berry juice in the morning, belly-warming drinks in glasses carved from ice at the bar, and reindeer steak in the restaurant to keep you warm!

Whitewalker Sculpture in Snow Suite
