The Whole Country Of Sweden Was Just Listed On Airbnb

Because apparently that's a thing that can happen.

[post_ads]You can now book Airbnb's most impressive listing for free. Yes, we're talking zero dollars. It comes with plenty of space, gorgeous views, and a boundless supply of all-natural cuisine. Okay, it isn't exactly your usual house or apartment rental — the entire country of Sweden was just listed on Airbnb, and you don't have to pay a dime to experience it. "Allemansrätten — or the freedom to roam — is a principle protected by Swedish law that gives all people the right to be free in Swedish nature," reads the listing. "In other words, Swedish nature isn’t just a piece of land with trees and lakes and cliffs – it’s a home with all the necessities and amenities that any great home should have. It’s a place where you can eat berries from the ground, sleep under the stars, swim in the lakes and roam freely."

A project launched by Visit Sweden, the country's tourism agency, Freedom To Roam is an initiative meant to encourage the exploration of the spectacular natural environment. "Sweden has no Eiffel Towers. No Niagara Falls or Big Bens. Not even a little Sphinx. Sweden has something else — the freedom to roam. This is our monument," their website reads.

By way of the country's Outdoor Access Rights, when you are in Sweden you have the right to walk, run, ski, cycle, and explore the land (except for private properties, of course!) however you wish. This includes camping, building a campfire, collecting flowers and berries, swimming in lakes, and so much more.

Sweden's Airbnb listing includes nine outdoor destinations across the country that are definitely worth a trip, from the perfect forest camping spot to an archipelago of 30,000 quiet islands. With some of the world's most spectacular landscapes, the Swedes make a compelling argument for allemansrätten. After all, who are we to turn down an all-inclusive trip to Europe?
