Sure, it’s chilly this time of year, but all the more reason to cozy
up indoors at a gorgeous tea house or range of Michelin-starred
restaurants. Bonus: Christmas is known as the time for romance in Japan.
It also tends to be a heck of a lot cheaper. (Last year, the second
week of January was 55 percent cheaper than the most expensive week of
the year.)

Ditto France this time of year. Lower temps might require you to
wrap yourself in a chic scarf and chapeau, but just think of how lovely
the Eiffel Tower looks sprinkled with snow. Another perk of traveling to
the City of Light during the winter months? A serious dip in crowds at
cultural institutions like the Louvre, the Champs Elysées and more (not
to mention a dip in airfare rates).

You’ll enjoy temps in the mid- to high-70s if you honeymoon at this
tropical paradise in the spring. That’s perfect weather for hiking
through the rainforest, laying out on the pristine beaches and sailing
and snorkeling in the warmer-than-usual surf. Going this time of year is
also easier on your wallet: Travel rates steadily decreased toward the
end of May last year.

Go off the grid on this tropical, French-speaking island (psst: its
real name is actually Saint Barthélemy) in the West Indies, where
getting pampered is just a way of life. Spend your days dining out at
high-end restaurants or lounging on one of 22 luxurious and secluded
(read: totally romantic) beaches. And good news: Last year, rates in May
were 75 percent cheaper than the priciest travel week.

Expect blindingly blue waters on this picture-perfect paradise,
located right in the middle of Australia’s Whitsunday archipelago—a
stretch of sea that has multiple islands all covered with white sand and
dark green tropical forests. The best part is that there are plenty of
resorts to choose from, many that offer day excursions to nearby natural
wonders like the Great Barrier Reef. (August tends to be the most
economical time to go.)

Cue the wine tastings: There’s nothing better than bouncing from one
winery to the next indulging in delicious farm-to-table cuisine as you
go. You and your newly betrothed will lose yourself in the variety of
world-class vineyards, complete with sweeping scenery and a low-key
vibe. Last year, a visit in June cost 30 percent less than the same
itinerary booked in the fall. Another perk: Napa is only a short car
ride away.
Fall: September Through November

It’s known as India’s most romantic city, possibly due to the fact
that Lake Pichola—a man-made body of water—lies pristine and peaceful
right at the center of town. Schedule a romantic boat ride out to the
middle of the lake and take in the views of not one, but two elegant and
glittering palaces. Monsoon season comes to an end in mid-September, so
fall is the perfect time to go. (Last year, the first week of September
was 45 percent cheaper than the most expensive week of the year.)
