This Beautiful Blue Forest in Belgium Should Be on Your Bucket List

Bluebells are some of the most magical flowers that exist and all the proof you need is this Belgium forest. It's located just 30 minutes south of Brussels and called Hallerbos or The Blue Forest. Every spring, the floor of the park changes from brown to vibrant purple. And as if that weren't enough, giant sequoia trees are sprinkled in, creating a setting that, simply put, belongs in a movie.

[post_ads]These flowers are common in Atlantic areas from north western Spain to the British Isles (remember this one in Arlington, England?) and kind of make us wish we lived across the pond ourselves. But since most of us can't quit or day jobs, you should know these flowers are at their peak during the last week of April. Tourists can pick between three different hiking paths in the 1,300-acre forest when they visit.

The first recorded reference of this famous park was back in 686, which just goes to show how iconic it is. Sadly, during World War I, most of the old trees were removed by the occupying German forces. However reforestation took place from 1930 to 1950 to bring the park back to it's magical state it's in today — and these pictures are just a few of the reasons we're glad it did.
