Mexico City is an ever-popular destination for honeymoon and anniversary trips. If you're planning to go, consider taking side trips to one (or all!) of these nearby colonial cities, too.

Oaxaca

An hour by air from CDMX, this culinary powerhouse is known for mole and mezcal. At Las Quince Letras, chef Celia Florián makes negro, rojo, and other versions of the rich sauce, while Mezcaloteca offers tastings from its library of liquor (reserve in advance). Puebla
