European Train Itinerary: 3 Countries in One Week

Europe has so many great cities and countries to offer that it might be hard to know where to go and what to do. Well, it also has another thing that makes travel around this historic continent easy to do and incredibly accessible; train travel between European countries is one of the best ways to get around while also sightseeing along the way. Here is a one-week itinerary for you to consider.

London

We’re going to start in the offshore portal to Europe, London. The capital city of the United Kingdom is going to be your home for the first two days of your trip so that means you can take the time to explore some of the royal architecture and historic landmarks that it has to offer. The South Bank is a popular option for most tourists as well as local for its stunning views of Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and St Paul’s Cathedral. In addition to that, this part of London near Waterloo station has access to the London Eye.

On your second day why not take the long trek up the Shard, London’s tallest building, for afternoon tea. You haven’t had scones and sandwiches like this before thanks to the view over the River Thames with Tower Bridge framing your shot. Then it is time to catch your first train in the morning - the Eurostar to Paris.

Paris

The journey lasts little over two hours before you arrive in your next two-day destination, the capital of France. Once you’ve dropped your things off at the hotel it’s time to head the Champs-Elysee where you will find the impressive Arc de Triomphe and quite moving memorial, the tomb of the unknown soldier. 

In the evening you should make your way down to the Eiffel Tower around sunset so that you can take up your spot at the top of one of the most iconic structures the world has ever seen and watch the day fade to night over beautiful Paris.

Amsterdam

After your second day in France, it’s time to board a train to the Netherlands and its capital Amsterdam. Here you will sample some of the highlights of Dutch life such as stroopwafel and tulips. Be sure to pay a visit to the Anne Frank House to get a grip on what life was like for people during the second world war.

This city has so much to offer, so rent one of its many bicycles and cycle your way along the Amstel river to get a real flavor of this beautiful country.
