While I’m a huge travel lover, I'll admit that the thought of getting on a plane still bums me out from time to time. After all, when we fly, we're more likely to get sick thanks to coughing passengers, lingering germs, low cabin pressure, dehydration, jet lag...the list of less-than-healthy factors goes on and on.

There are a few wellness hacks to practice before boarding and on the flight itself, but what about once we land? As a yogi who travels for a living, I've found that the absolute best thing you can do once your plane hits the tarmac is get moving in a meaningful way.
Movement can stimulate your immune system, increase your oxygen levels, and get your bowels and blood flowing again—just be sure to hydrate as you move too! And you don't have to run a marathon once you land. There are plenty of fun, quick ways to move your body after a flight, wherever you may be in the world. Here are five that I really love:

Walk around and find some food from a local market.
Skip the buffet or the nearby fast-food chain and walk to seek out a more authentic food experience. Head to a market to explore some of the local cuisine and get your trip started with a little bit of adventure. Doing so will also keep you on your feet and talking to people.
Afterward, take the long way back to where you're staying. Take a walk on the beach to get some sun and warmth back on your skin, feel the water brush up on the soles of your feet, smell the salty ocean air, and take in the healing benefits the ocean water has to offer. No beach? No excuses. Find a walking path to enjoy! Any kind of nature can be mighty healing.

There are SO many offerings for fitness videos online these days, so there’s really no excuse to not stop, drop, and down dog or burpee when you're away from home.

Head to the gym.
With a sweeping, positive shift toward wellness-infused travel these days, most hotels now have some sort of a gym for guests to access. Right after you check in, lift some weights, jump on a treadmill, or use a jump rope. All of these activities will get your blood pumping again and help clear out your system.

Take a class.
[post_ads]Most larger hotels offer classes these days, with a full schedule of group classes or personal training sessions. But one of my favorite things to do when I travel is search for a local studio in the area and hop right into a class. This gives you a chance to immerse yourself in the fitness scene of the area you’re visiting and meet some of the locals. Who knows, you might walk away with suggestions of other places to go, eat, visit, or experience, in addition to a new go-to workout.

Dance it out.
Download a playlist to your phone, blast the music in your room, and just start to dance, move, and groove in any intuitive way that calls out to you. This is one of my favorite movement activities to do in the mornings when it's raining or I don't have time for a more organized workout.
