We round up the very best of sister vacations-plus specific suggestions for exactly where to go and what to do.

Embrace Your Inner Child
[post_ads_2]
You
used to play together as kids, so return to your youth with a
fun-filled fling at a theme park (hello, Dollywood!) or music festival
(Stagecoach, obviously). Or maybe you're dying to re-create that
favorite family trip to Disneyland or Branson, MO (with or without your
own children in tow). It doesn't really matter what you do or where you
go — just let loose and laugh like little kids again.

Make a Splash
[post_ads_2]
Looking
for more low-key fun? Book a room at a hotel with kitschy decor, like
the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA or a playful pool, like at the
colorful hot spot Saguaro Palm Springs (pictured). Order room service
and stay up late talking. Then soak up the sun and lounge poolside until
your troubles away.

Go Glamping
[post_ads_2]
Combine
your three favorite G-words: glamour, girl time and the great outdoors.
There are so many luxurious dude ranches and glamping getaways all over
the world — it's impossible to pick just one. But how cool are these
tents at Nomade Tulum Hotel in Mexico? Do yoga, visit the spa, and enjoy
the just-steps-away beach. Now, that's our kind of "roughing it."

Hit the Road
[post_ads_2]
Long
drives are the best for meaningful conversations with your sister. We
love the coastal calm of the historic U.S. Route 1 through Maine and
Rhode Island. It also helps that there are plenty of places for pit
stops — we're talking Instagrammable lighthouses, antiquing, and lots
and lots of lobster. Stay at the Cliff House Maine for relaxing spa
services and incredible oceanfront views, or the renovated historic
Danforth Inn in Portland. And Newport, Rhode Island's Castle Hill Inn
Newport (pictured) is a must — it's where JFK and Jackie tied the knot.
Otherwise, roll down the windows, crank the tunes, and just enjoy the
ride.

Chow Down Down South
[post_ads_2]
Plan
to follow a barbecue trail (Joe's BBQ in Blue Ridge, GA is a
must-stop), take a Tennessee whiskey tour, go blue-crabbing in
Charleston, SC, or binge on beignets, oysters, and po-boys in New
Orleans (Fat Tuesday, indeed). When in New Orleans, splurge on a room at
the historic Maison de Ville in the French Quarter — a favorite of
Elizabeth Taylor's, among other A-listers. And because nothing pairs
better with food than tunes, make sure to check out the live music
scene.

Shop Until You Drop
[post_ads]Plan
an entire vacation around one of your favorite activities: shopping.
Savannah, GA, is famous for its Southern charm and historic streets,
including the Downtown Design District, the City Market, and the
boutique-lined Broughton Street (Zia is a local favorite) — three prime
places to snag some stylish souvenirs. And don't forget to fuel up at
some of the city's best eateries!

Get Active
[post_ads]Is
exercising in your blood? Hike, horseback-ride, jet-ski, zipline, ski,
rock-climb — there are so many sister-friendly ways to get moving in
Colorado. Stay in a luxury resort with a menu of adventures and
amenities, like C Lazy U Ranch in Granby, which even has a tented spa
where you can soak in copper tubs—you know, when you need to recharge
after all that excitement.

Escape to the Beach
[post_ads]Every
woman deserves a little fun in the sun with her sis. While the
Caribbean and Hawaii are obvious choices, we'd also recommend the Canary
Islands. Stay at a top-rated cottage in Tenerife — just a short drive
from one of the most beautiful beaches.

Toast to Sisterhood
[post_ads]Like
a fine wine, sisterhood only gets better with time. Treat yourselves to
a trip to Wine Country. Naturally, there's Napa and Sonoma, but
Southern California has its fair share of fantastic wines, too. For a
country-inspired getaway, go to Los Olivos in the Santa Ynez Valley of
Santa Barbara County, and cruise along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway
on your way to winery hop. When you're not swirling and sipping, you can
ride horses at Estelle Ranch & Vineyards and catch some shut-eye at
Fess Parker Wine Country Inn.

Trace Your Roots
[post_ads]Eat
your way through Italy, explore Ireland, or jet-set to Japan — wherever
it is you come from, enjoy learning about your heritage with your BFF
who also happens to shares your genes.
