Our ultimate guide to a honeymoon in Thailand

Plan a dream honeymoon in Thailand!

By Clemmie Millbank, Plan Your Perfect Wedding

Often referred to as the ‘The Land of Smiles’, Thailand truly is one of the happiest countries in the world. It is often the people we meet while on journeys abroad who make the memories so special, and there is no better example of this than a Turquoise honeymoon to Thailand. Whatever time of year you are looking to travel, there will be a beach swathed in sunshine awaiting your arrival. Here is the Turquoise Holidays guide to choosing your perfect beach on honeymoon in Thailand:
West Coast Thailand – Phuket & Khao Lak

[post_ads]The beautiful Andaman Coast is home to some of Thailand's most well known and loved beach destinations, including Phuket, Thailand’s largest island. It is well developed thanks to its alluring coves and bays, tropical islets and of course the stunning beaches. Crossing to the mainland by bridge from Phuket, a scenic drive takes you to the peaceful beach resort of Khao Lak. Whilst not quite as developed as Phuket, Khao Lak still has plenty to see and do combined with beautiful scenery and lovely, pristine beaches. The picturesque Khao Sok National Park is not far away for elephant trekking and white water rafting while offshore the beautiful Similan Islands offer some of Thailand's best snorkelling and diving making for a wonderful day trip.

Sarojin

This elegant, Thai style resort is a secluded tropical retreat, offering undisturbed privacy and stylish, spacious suites, some with private pools. A foodie haven, we absolute love the hotels flexible dining style, allowing guests to eat where they like, whether it  be breakfast on the beach, a picnic lunch by a nearby waterfall or a romantic star lit dinner on your private terrace.

Six Senses Yao Noi

Half way between Phuket and Krabi, this wonderfully natural and authentic resort is a true honeymoon hot spot. Built into the hill side, with pool villa’s overlooking the infamous limestone karts of Phang Nga Bay, Six Senses Yao Noi simply breath taking. Each honeymoon couple have their own private butler to attend to your every need, from signature spa treatments to private dining on the beach, your wish is their command.

Elephant Hills

The first luxury jungle camp of its kind in Thailand, Elephant Hills , in Khao Sok National Park, is a unique experience we recommend to honeymooners looking for an adventure. Choose to stay on land or overwater and enjoy a truly memorable menu of activities during your stay. Our favourites include, jungle treks, canoeing on the lake, Mahout training, washing and feeding the elephants and dinners around the campfire swapping stories of action packed days of fun and laughter.
[post_ads_2]
Famed for its strikingly rugged karst coastline Krabi is what many people imagine the picture perfect Thai beach escape to be. It is easily accessible from Bangkok or other Asian hubs thanks to its own airport and is well placed for exploring beautiful Phang Nga Bay. Getting to the neighbouring island of Koh Lanta takes a little more time than some other Thai beach spots because there is no airport on the island and therefore it is only accessible by boat – but this is definitely a bonus and all part of the charm. The extra effort is well worth it as you are rewarded with a pristine island hideaway offering a traditional, quiet Thai feel making it one of our Turquoise honeymoon favourites.

Layana Resort & Spa

An adult only resort on a white sandy beach, set within the Mu Koh Lanta National Park on the sleepy island of Koh Lanta – could we be in honeymoon heaven? The Layana Resort & Spa is a true hidden gem, with just 51 rooms and suites; it is private, intimate and utterly romantic. Although there are a few local bars to test at sunset, this is no party place – peace, quiet and total relaxation is the order of the day.

Rayavadee

Accessible only by boat, hidden on a peninsula of the mainland, you will find Rayavadee, a breath taking property, with access to three beaches, local restaurants and the azure lagoon surrounding Phang Nga Bay. We love the little touches and romantic extras at Rayavadee, especially The Grotto, a candlelit limestone cave where you can enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars,  with the sand between your toes.

The Tubkaak

A home away from home, the Tubkaak exudes warmth and charm to all who visit. A truly boutique retreat, this hotel works wonderfully for honeymooners who are looking for an intimate beach ending to their Thailand adventure. A stone’s throw away from Koh Phi Phi and the wonders of surrounding Krabi, you can do as much, or as little as you like during your stay. The Tubkaak also combines perfectly with a few nights at Elephant Hills Jungle Camp in the Khao Sok National Park.

Summer Honeymoons

Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s most accessible islands and is just a short flight from Bangkok. There are a wonderful array of hotels to choose from and plenty to do on the island; however it is smaller, quieter and less developed than Phuket with more of a laidback island ambiance. Chaweng is a bustling beachfront town for those looking to party; however the rest of the island is much quieter with many of our favourite honeymoon hotels tucked away in secluded bays or on the north of the island. Koh Phangan has an undeserved reputation for attracting more of a backpacker crowd thanks to its renowned party scene and cheap accommodation. However, the island is actually largely undeveloped with idyllic untouched coves and a lush interior waiting to be explored.

Anantara Rasananda

A short speedboat ride from neighbouring Koh Samui, arrive in true James Bond style on your honeymoon at Anantara Rasananda. This all pool villa hotel is on one of the most sought after beaches in the Gulf of Thailand, with a cool and contemporary design throughout. The ‘dining by design’ menu allows guests to choose a star lit spot to enjoy a night special night together, or for a more relaxed evening, we love exploring the local bars and restaurants, just a short walk along the beach.

Banyan Tree Samui

In true Banyan Tree style, this all pool villa property pulls out all the stops for a honeymoon on Koh Samui. Contemporary in design yet wonderfully elegant, enjoy the views of Lamai Bay from your private infinity pool, or shade under the leaves of the palm fringed beach, fresh coconut in hand. With five restaurants, an award winning spa (with hydrotherapy treatments) and a never ending list of activities, from daily yoga classes to scuba diving courses, you will wish you stayed longer!

Six Senses Samui

Located on the northern tip of Koh Samui, this luxurious yet authentically Thai resort exudes romance and seclusion. Each of the villas, most with private pools, are positioned around a sloping headland covered in lush vegetation, making them extremely private, even though all of the resort’s facilities are close to hand. Enjoy breath-taking panoramic views from your private sun deck or one of the resort’s idyllic bars and restaurants. Proud of their reputation for serving some of the best food on Koh Samui, the world class chefs at Six Senses Samui use the freshest herbs and vegetables grown in their own gardens and prepare some of Asia’s most innovative and inspiring cuisine.

Every Turquoise honeymoon to Thailand is bespoke and tailored to you. The Turquoise team recommend all Thai honeymoons to include elements beyond the beach, whether it be a few days exploring the cosmopolitan city of Bangkok, experiencing the stunning countryside and ancient cities of the north, or adventuring into one of the national parks to learn about the stunning flora, fauna and wildlife for which Thailand is so well known.
