Plan a family adventure that you and the kids will never forget, by
visiting one of these breathtakingly beautiful parks—or another one
close to home. Think of it as a gift from the Earth!
Centennial Park, Ellicott, MD
[post_ads]If your family needs a fusion of organized fun mixed with the great outdoors, Centennial Park
is the perfect place to visit. The tennis court and playground provide
the kind of fun your family might already be accustomed to; boat
rentals, fishing and diverse wildlife add a sweet taste of nature that
you can't find in the city. Families can also take advantage of
educational activities offered for children at the park, such as the
Abrakadoodle: Bug Me! Creepy Crawler's Camp.
Chittenango Falls State Park, Cazenovia, NY
[post_ads_2]
Move over Niagara Falls! This park, which is the home of an
astonishing 167 foot waterfall, features an impressive array of wild and
plant life along scenic trails. Whether you choose a vigorous hike or
prefer a relaxing picnic, Chittenango Falls will accommodate. Feel free to bring the family pet—but be sure to keep your animal pal on a leash at all times.
Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, Apex, NC
Let Jordan Lake State Recreation Area
renew your spirits. Here you'll find almost 14,000 acres of water,
where you can enjoy the beach life and dig your feet into the inviting
sand. You can also catch delectable fish for a family fry, or bald-eagle
watch with the curious kiddies. Sky watching sessions are offered every
month by the staff at Morehead Planetarium.
Petit Jean State Park, Little Rock, AR
[post_ads]The so-called Natural State holds a jewel perfect for family
bonding time. Not only can you see an amazing 95 foot waterfall called
Cedar Falls at Petit Jean State Park,
but you and the family can explore Lake Bailey by pedal or flat-bottom
boat, or even by water bikes. The kids will jump with excitement when
they learn about some of the fantastic programs offered every day, such
as the Nature Photography Scavenger Hunt. Workmoms who can't quite pull
away from the office entirely will be happy to learn that there's wi-fi
access throughout Mather Lodge.
Sesqui Park, Columbia, SC

Take your little ones to Sesqui and they will be asking to return every year! The colorful playground with high slides, the canoe and kayak rentals, and movies under the stars will make the kids feel like they are in state park heaven! There are fish aplenty to reel in from the lake so bring your fishing poles!

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Glenn Arbor, MI
Take in the beauty of Lake Michigan at this midwestern park
that's replete with hiking trails, freshwater beaches and dune climbs.
Kids can join the Junior Ranger Program upon arrival at Sleeping Bear Dunes'
Visitor Center; they'll be given an activity book that will teach them
about the park, then receive a Junior Ranger Badge at the end of the
day. Since this fabulous park is only a few miles away from popular
vacation spot Traverse City, the family can ride bikes through the
terrain during the day and hop in the car headed to a fancy restaurant
in the evening.
