About Daffodil Hill
Daffodil Hill is located in Pine Grove, CA – about a 90 minute drive from Sacramento. Many Sacramento families make the trek each year to this quaint little farm to play, picnic and enjoy the blooming grounds.
The
first day of the 2016 season is March 2, and will remain open until
fewer than 25% of the daffodil blooms remain. The blooms likely won’t be
very impressive at the start of the season, but it all depends upon the
weather conditions.
[post_ads]This sweet little farm is a great alternative to Apple Hill
when you’re ready to try something different, but it does get crowded
on the weekend. Go during the week if you’d like to have the place
practically to yourself. While visiting, you can bring a picnic lunch or
else food is available for sale onsite. You can also purchase a few
souvenir items and just enjoy “getting away from it all” without having
to venture too far from home.
Prices and Hours
Daffodil Hill is open 7
days per week from 10am to 4pm. They open for the season when 25% of the
blooms are present, and they remain open until fewer than 25% remain,
which means during a nice, even rainy spring can make their operating
season quite long. Best of all, Daffodil Hill is 100% free – free
parking, free admission each and every day, making it an ideal family
getaway over spring break.
Quick Tips[post_ads_2]
Visiting
Daffodil Hill is loads of fun, but it’s important to preserve that fun
for everyone. The owners of the property ask you to respect the area as
you would your own by staying on designated paths and out of the flower
beds.
Dogs are also not allowed on the Hill, although they can stay in the parking lot.
There
is a lot of walking at Daffodil Hill, so bring appropriate footwear.
Almost all of the paths are gravel and dirt, so sandals aren’t ideal for
a trek to the blooms. Since the parking lot is also dirt and gravel
combined with steep grades, motorcyclists and cyclists should take
caution.
As mentioned above, Daffodil Hill does get quite crowded on the weekends.
It’s never the same amount of madness as some popular Apple Hill or Tahoe destinations, but the area is still very much in demand during blooming season.
Do Your Part
If
you go to Daffodil Hill and enjoy your visit, consider making a
donation. This destination is made possible by the staff planting
thousands of bulbs each year. They use donations to support the
cultivation of these beautiful flowers for the next season. Purchasing a
souvenir onsite also helps to defray costs.
