The London Eye is 135 meters high which
made it the world's tallest observation wheel when it opened in 2000.
It has 32 capsules and carries around 10,000 visitors every day. The
London Eye has become the most popular paid for UK visitor attraction,
visited by over 3.5 million people a year. While traveling in complete
safety you can see up to 40 kilometers away in all directions from each
capsule.
In 2009, a 4D Film Experience
was added as a free extra to enjoy before your ride on the Eye. The 4D
effects are superb and this short film has the only 3D aerial footage of
London.

Opening Times
The
opening times can vary seasonally (extra evening times in December and
August, for example) but these are the general times to be aware of:
Winter: October to May: Daily 10am to 8pm
Summer: June to September: Daily 10am to 9pm
Exceptions: The London Eye closes for annual maintenance for up to couple of weeks every January (check official website for exact dates) and is closed on Christmas Day (25 December).

The London Eye is on the South Bank - an area full of London attractions. Further attractions inside County Hall include The London Dungeon and Shrek's Adventure! London (both also run by Merlin Entertainments), and The London Aquarium.
On the other side of the River Thames is the Houses of Parliament, plus and The Supreme Court too.
Continue along the South Bank and you'll soon reach Tate Modern - the national contemporary art gallery that's free to visit, HMS Belfast - a a unique reminder of Britain's naval heritage with nine decks for you to explore, Tower Bridge - which now has a glass floor section on the high walkway (and go across the bridge to The Tower of London).
