In today’s fast-moving world, we’re constantly connected to our devices.
For the technophile, it’s hard to find time to relax among the phone
calls, text messages, Facebook status updates and work emergencies.
Even on holidays we can find it hard to shut off our technology and really relax – so why not let your holiday destination do the hard work for you?

Here are five Aussie destinations that will guarantee a technology-free vacation – as the technology simply won’t work!
El Questro Wilderness Park, Kimberley, WA
The Kimberley region, in northern Western Australia,
has incredible scenery, ample wildlife and a whole lot of history and
Aboriginal culture all rolled up into one area that is a short one-hour
flight from Darwin. Best of all, there’s very little mobile reception –
if you can find any at all! El Questro Wilderness Park is proud of their
lack of coverage, and they have plenty of activities for those going
through technology withdrawals.

You can choose to camp by the
riverside in your own tent, shack up in one of their tented cabins, or
live it up in luxury in the Homestead. Regardless of your accommodation
preference, you’ll be forced to enjoy one of Australia’s most untouched
regions without the hindrance of technology.
Ikara Safari Camp, Wilpena Pound, SA
Ikara
Safari Camp has the advantage of feeling as though it’s in the middle
of nowhere, and being located five hours north of Adelaide, it really is
in a world of its own. There’s no mobile coverage, and certainly no 4G
for updating your Instagram, but it does have luxury accommodation that
would make any ‘glamping’ enthusiast proud.
All tents – for lack of a better word – have
en-suites, king-sized beds and air conditioning. There’s a communal
fire pit and a bar, so you never feel too far away from civilisation.

If
you’re trying to give the whole family a technology detox, book one of
the family tents available. With two single beds in an additional room
off the main bedroom, you can drag the kids along for a holiday that’s
not going to be distracted by the beeping and buzzing of phones or
tablets.
Sal Sails, Ningaloo Reef, WA
Sal Sails is a little piece of heaven on earth. You can go snorkelling, fishing, kayaking, swim with a whale shark or simply lounge on the white sands of the beach. What you can’t do, however, is update your Facebook status or check your Twitter; Sal Sails is a strictly reception-free zone so it’s perfect if you need a little help switching off.The bush camp accommodation has all the comforts of home, with an en-suite bathroom, comfortable beds and an unbeatable view of the pristine beaches.
You’re likely to meet at least a few members of the local wildlife, even if you decide not to set foot in the water.
Pedder Wilderness Lodge, Southwest National Park, TAS
Not much can compare to the untouched, rugged beauty of Tasmania’s national parks and Southwest National Park is no exception. With breathtaking views in every direction, lush rainforest and huge, millennia-old trees standing proudly in the forest, this is one place where technology truly has no use.Only two hours west of Hobart, Pedder Wilderness Lodge is close enough to enjoy a night out on the town, but far enough away to allow you to really absorb the beauty and serenity of the Tasmanian bush. There are several accommodation types to choose from, from luxury rooms to self-contained apartments.
There’s even a bar, restaurant, gym and pool for those who don’t like leaving civilisation completely behind.
Anbinik Kakadu Resort, Kakadu National Park, NT
There aren’t many places in Australia that boast the cultural history and significance of Kakadu National Park, about 90 minutes from Darwin. Aboriginals have lived in the region for thousands of years, and still live relatively closely to the traditional lifestyle today.[post_ads_2]
For tourists, Kakadu is an untouched haven – it has impressive sandstone formations, plenty of wildlife, forests and billabongs and, of course, no mobile reception.
Anbinik Kakadu Resort offers plenty of accommodation for any budget, from powered camping sites to fully self-contained cabins. They also offer tours of Kakadu National Park, including cruises, 4WD tours and helicopter tours, all of which can be booked upon your arrival. Some accommodation types are unavailable during the wet season, so be sure to call ahead to make sure you get the most out of your technology-free holiday.
